All Taranaki umpires must be registered

To become a 'Registered Umpire' you must:

  • Pass the Netball NZ Learning to Umpire Module (replaces online Centre Theory test). 
  • ​​​​​​​Attend a Good Call Rules class (online or face to face) 

Registered Umpire qualifications are valid for 4 Years from the date of completion, unless there is a major rule change by International Netball Federation (INF) then an update will be required.

We accept requests for a Good Call Rules workshop, this does require a minium number of attendees, we can help advertise just let us know if this is an option you are wanting.

Umpiring is a vital part of Netball and is a means of keeping order within a match. It is an engaging way to maintain fun on the court in a safe way. From beginners to NZ level umpires, it is a perfect way to be involved.

Whether your a beginner or experienced umpire, in order to umpire netball here in Taranaki we need you to become an registered umpire. To do this you are required to attend a Good Call Rules workshop and complete the online module. Once this has been completed you will be able to umpire in any of our netball competitions and programs we offer in Taranaki.

All teams in our competitions/programs need to supply an umpire. This includes Satellite Netball, futureFERNs (years 7 and 8), Summer and Spring League.

Available is umpire coaches to support you through your umpire journey.

Please note that Premier Umpires are required to be centred badge and will start in the premier 3 competition, while working toward progressing into premier 2 and 1.

OPPORTUNITIES


1st December 2024 - Satellite Cup Festival Tournament. This is a great day for new and learning umpires. The tournaments focuses on player participation and fun. No scores are taken. If you are wanting to test yourself out and recieve some support and feedback on the day then register your interest. 


February 2025 - Pre-Season strength and conditioning for all. This is a fun way to get prepared before the netball season begins. Learn all about umpire specific warm ups, recovery and nutrition.

Fitness testing available for those that want it. This includes the yoyo test.


June 2025 - Representative Programme will be needing umpires to travel away with our representative teams. Travel, accomodation and food is all provided.
